Maybe you’ve thought that getting prepared for emergencies would be hard, time consuming, or not much fun, but chances are you’re already taking some of the actions above because they just make good sense to you and they actually make your life easier. Be your family’s hero.
Every day more and more moms are becoming the family heroes and leading the way by taking practical steps to make sure their families have what they need to survive well in an emergency.
We see savvy moms everywhere taking charge and learning from power outages, flat tires, skinned knees, tight budgets, a shaky economy, and job losses, all the way up to snow storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes and floods. They’re making sure their cars are equipped in case they get stranded. They’re saving money, stocking up when food’s on sale, storing water, and making sure first aid kits have band-aids and antiseptic.
And you know who’s noticed? Parenting.com, O Magazine and Parents Magazine all recognize preparing for emergencies as one of the pivotal pieces women handle for their families. Not only that, National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel and Spike TV are among the networks now featuring shows on emergency preparedness.
But moms aren’t the only ones getting prepared. Jamie Lee Curtis, Clint Eastwood, Oprah and other celebrities are stepping up, taking action and encouraging others to do the same.
